Galleries & The Arts

Much has been said about the Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle & the role of Wakefield within it. We are the birthplace of two internationally acclaimed sculptors but we are also a city with a growing DIY art scene and creative community.

Your paintings

Your Paintings is a collaboration between the BBC, the Public Catalogue Foundation and participating collections and museums from across the UK.

The project website aims to show the entire UK national collection of oil paintings, the stories behind them and where to see them for real.

Over 800 images of paintings held in the collections of The Hepworth Wakefield, National Trust Nostell Priory, The National Coal Mining Museum and Wakefield Council are displayed on the site.

You can discover them here

Remember, if you are travelling to see a specific work, please phone in advance as not all the featured paintings are on permanent display.
