As the home of Yorkshire Sculpture Park and The Hepworth Wakefield (opened 21 May 2011) the visual arts are a vital part of life in the Wakefield district. Recognised as one of the world's leading open air galleries, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park features more than 40 contemporary sculptures displayed across 500 acres of delightful parkland. The Hepworth Wakefield is Yorkshire's landmark gallery for visual arts. This stunning building, designed by award-winning architect David Chipperfield is located in an outstanding setting on Wakefield's historic waterfront. The building features 10 gallery spaces, cafe, shop, auditorium and learning spaces.
