Museum at Castleford ForumMuseum at Castleford Forum

Roman Gem  Plate

The new museum at the Castleford Forum will open in summer 2013; this is part of a larger project to develop an extended and refurbished building on the site of what was the old Castleford Library.

The new museum will provide access to important artefacts about Castleford from the museum’s collections. This will include the very rare Iron Age chariot from nearby Ferry Fryston, high quality Roman sculpture from the town’s original Roman fort, objects tracing the area’s coalmining and industrial heritage and there will be a special area devoted to the early life of Henry Moore, who was born in the town and became one of the most celebrated artists of the 20th century.
