Wakefield MuseumWakefield Museum

Wakefield makes stories about people and their lives. Some are over a thousand years in the making, others are only just beginning. Explore the gallery and hear a few of these stories.

Follow the themes of wealth and power, hardship and hope, passion and belief, love and war, work and home.

Experience the hard work of grinding grain, get dressed up and have a go at creating some mixed-up animals and then relax in the Front Room and let the kids explore the toy box and have a go at the activities on offer.

The new library spreads over two floors with over 60,000 books, 60 PCs including printing, scanning and photocopying facilities and a wealth of audio visual material.

The library boasts study and meeting spaces, areas to relax and a fantastic children’s area made up of three bespoke zones for under 5’s, juniors and teenagers. A self-service option will speed up ease of access as will a layout which includes ‘quick pick’ access to the most popular material.

An enhanced local studies section is sited on the lower ground floor adjacent to the museums collections.
