Anglers Country ParkAnglers Country Park

ACP Islands  Anglers Visitors Centre

Visitors to this popular free attraction, with its open rolling landscape, enjoy walking, picnicking, wildlife and bird watching.

Visit the bird hides on the Pol and the main lake. Pol is an old English word for pond, and its shallow water attracts wildfowl such as the heron as well as dragonflies and amphibians.

Look out for common species like swans, coots, mallard and pied wagtail as well as the more unusual osprey, widgeon and yellow wagtail.

The two-mile path around the lake is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly and electric mobility scooters are available free of charge for use within the park.

Anglers Country Park is also a starting point to the network of footpaths and trails to explore the wider countryside - enjoy a woodland walk or follow the Barnsley Canal towpath.

A leaflet, 'The Waterton Trail', is available showing four way marked trails for you to follow. Most routes are fairly level, not too strenuous and some are designed for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
