Wakefield’s famous Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb has joined the hallowed ranks of Europe’s protected foods.

Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb has been elevated to the same status as Champagne and Parma Ham. If it’s not from the Yorkshire rhubarb triangle, it can’t be called Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb.

Wakefield Festival of Food, Drink and Rhubarb is one of the first major foodie events in the UK’s festival calendar.

The festival celebrates the tradition of Forced Rhubarb growing in Wakefield, offering the finest regional produce and showcasing the most talented local chefs.

The 2013 festival saw a range of tours, walks, chef demonstrations and real ale along side one of the biggest speciality markets in the region.
