Building on the success of their event last year at the Wakefield Literature Festival with former Pit Nurse Joan Hart, the National Coal Mining Museum for England (NCMME) are making a return to this year's Wakefield LitFest with Yorkshire based singer/songwriter Ali Bullivent.

Ali will be premiering an exciting new work commissioned by the NCMME which will highlight their vast and unique collection of mining literature in the NCMME Library.

It will be based on the work of novelist and short story writer Sid Chaplin who was also a regular contributor to Coal Magazine, the official newspaper of the National Coal Board and columnist for the Guardian newspaper. Sid Chaplin, who was from the North East of England came from a mining family and as a teenager worked in the local pits.

The performance will also include a number of other songs and poems inspired by prose, poetry and factual accounts from our mining heritage.

Ali will be joined by a number of guest musicians including the Imba Basi Band and Librarians from NCMME will be on hand to speak to people about the fascinating collection held in the museum library before and after the event.
