Nostell is home to one of Yorkshire’s key historic libraries, with thousands of tomes spread between the Library and Billiard Room.
Join Nostell for a day of activities inspired by the collection from peeking between the bindings of some of the literary treasures to creative workshops for adults and children.
Back by popular demand, drop into their open book event 1pm-5pm to take a peek inside rare historic gems including a handwritten recipe book by Nostell’s cooks, gruesome medical books and the gorgeously illustrated Gould’s Book of Birds.
If you’re looking to try a new skill, book on to their printing workshop with expert Mitch Robinson, create your very own bookplate to take home, inspired by those in the Nostell book collection, 10am-4pm, tickets £35, booking essential.
Families can snuggle up for songs and stories in the Servant’s Hall at 12.15pm and then have a go at crafting your own creation with a chilldren’s bookbinding activity, 1-3pm.
This event is part of the Wakefield Lit Fest 2016.
