Details

Contemporary knitwear designer Miriam Griffiths leads an in-depth introduction to machine knitting, where you will use knitting machines independently and create a hat or scarf to your own design.

You will be introduced to the basic workings of a knitting machine and examples of what it can create. You will then be guided through casting on a piece of knitting, the elements involved in knitting a garment, including techniques such as lace holes, shaping, tucks, ridges, jacquard, tension swatches and calculation. These skills will support your design and planning of a final piece.

The workshop is suitable for people with no prior experience, but those with basic machine knitting knowledge are also welcome.

The workshop will involve sharing machines with different functions and yarns if working in the same colour.
