Ossett, a small market town, is located to the west of Wakefield city centre.
Ossett Community Centre hosts local hobby groups, a popular public library and a central post office.
Ossett Town Hall is also used as a venue for many activities and events. The main hall, within the town hall, is currently home to Northern Theatre Organs Trust famous Compton Organ and regular concerts are held throughout the year. The hall can seat up to 400 people for a concert and 200 people for a party.
The popular Gawthorpe Maypole Festival and Procession has been held each May since 1874.
The focal point of Ossett Town Centre is the clock tower which houses the original Potts clock which was donated in memory of former mayor, Mr J Ward, by his daughters. Today, the clock is still wound daily by the staff at the hall.
