Nature Spotter
Download and cut out our handy chart with pictures of some of the things you might see on a nature walk, then tick them off as you see them. You probably won’t see them all at once, so keep looking whenever you go out!

Butterflies

Butterfly

More than 30 different types of butterfly have been seen in the Wakefield district, from common garden visitors, such as the Large or Cabbage White, to rarer species like the Grayling.

Check out our beautiful butterfly guide and keep your eyes peeled as you explore all the places around our district that these winged creatures call home!

Love Exploring

Follow the map on the Love Exploring app as it uses augmented reality to lead you to your first dinosaur at Pugneys Country Park or fairy at Newmillerdam. Once you find them, they’ll have a question for you. Did you get it right? Keep going until you’ve found them all.

With guided trails, games and quizzes along the way, this is a fantastic way to get your family exploring the outdoors.

Love Exploring is completely FREE and is available to download for Android from Google Play or iPhone from the App Store.
