The Festival Of The Moon

“One small step for man, one giant leap for Wakefield.”

The Festival Of The Moon
14 days of amazing events
Fri 23 Aug – Sun 8 Sep 2019
Wakefield Market Hall, Union Street, Wakefield, WF1 3AE

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first moon landing by NASA’s Apollo 11 rocket in 1969 with The Festival Of The Moon at Wakefield’s Former Market Hall.

The festival’s centre-piece is a stunning artwork Museum Of The Moon by artist Luke Jerram. Suspended high up from the former Market Hall’s ceiling, Museum of the Moon is seven metres in diameter with every centimetre representing 5km of the moon’s surface – it’s a beautiful mix of moonlight, imagery from NASA and music from BAFTA winning musician Dan Jones. Museum of the Moon has travelled the world from Glastonbury to Australia and been seen by 100,000s of people worldwide. A once in a lifetime opportunity to come face-to-face with the moon and grab an out-of-this world selfie!
