Wakefield Sports Club (College Grove),
Eastmoor Road,

Also at this Venue

For the 10th Anniversary of Wakefield Jazz Clark Tracey and David Newton were commissioned to write a suite of music.

They chose to title all the numbers according to references to the club, promoters, premises or characters.

Eric Parkin had long been recording performances at the club and was consequently nicknamed “Bootleg Eric”.

He was the club’s most loyal supporter over nearly 30 years and so a track from the suite was named after him. Then when the suite was recorded the album was named after that track.

In 2017 the band was reassembled to play the headline gig at the Swanage Jazz Festival and was, of course, named the Bootleg Eric Band.

Sadly Eric died shortly before the Festival. Now, almost a year on, we‘ve asked Clark to do his best to get the band together again and play the music as a tribute to Eric’s passing.

Some dep’s were needed as certain star performers from 1997 were unavailable – however the music and its spirit live on.
