Details

An evening showcase of music and singing.

Three established Wakefield based singer/songwriters, Ali Bullivent, Jilly Riley and Loz Campbell, and emerging artist Melody Anne Slatter come together to create three, new individual musical pieces and one composed collaboratively around the theme of female astronauts. Exploring the histories and achievements of astronauts like Helen Sharman (the first British astronaut), Valentina Tereshkova (the first woman in space) and Sally Ride (the first American woman in space).

Social I Sing present a Pop Up Family Choir, when a selection of moon themed songs will be taught to family groups, each taking a pack of music and words home to practice and then performed as a choir at the closing event. As well as resulting in a stirring, definitively Wakefield choral performance spanning multiple generations of local people, the project encourages families to come together and share time with each other at home during practice sessions.

The Rocket Men, a group of men in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, tell their stories through a moving original song written and composed by one of the group’s members. The song reflects the journey of recovery and the Moon. The project has been devised by ThinkCre8tive Group and Spectrum People together with The Rocket Men.

Suitable for all ages.

All supported through the Creative Challenge commissions.
