Wakefield Libraries are reopening!

As of Monday 20 July all libraries in the district have reopened - with the exception of Ossett Library and the Mobile Library Service. The re-start of the mobile library service and re-opening of Ossett Library are being planned for early August.

Please note that all regularly scheduled library events are still suspended, but can be found online HERE.

Dig out your book lists and get yourself down to your local library!

Mindful Colouring In

Mindful colouring is a relaxing way to calm the mind while exploring your creativity.

This beautiful shoe, from the Wakefield Museums and Castles collection, dates from the Georgian period and belonged to the Clarkson family of Alverthorpe Hall.

There's loads more mindful colouring inspired by items in the Wakefield Museums' collection, including a miniature sewing machine and a medieval tile. Find them on the Wakefield Museums and Castles blog.

Lockdown Life

Wakefield Libraries are creating a record of life during the current Covid-19 pandemic for their future local studies collection and for an exhibition of #LockdownLife in the district.

How are you keeping active? What new ways are you keeping in touch with friends and family? Have you found your creative and culinary side and tried out new recipes, crafts and hobbies?

Send your photographs, poems, quotes, diaries and drawings to or post to #Lockdown Life, c/o Wakefield Libraries, Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2DA
