Our annual moving machinery day is back on Sunday the 18th March.

About British Science Week 2018 British Science Week, run by the British Science Association is a ten-day celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths, featuring entertaining and engaging events and activities across the UK for people of all ages.

Come along for a great family day out

* Walk or catch the train to Hope Pit (small fee applies).
* Take part in exciting hands-on science experiments with our Education Team who’ll be looking at how we get coal from underground.
* See some of our big machines running including the Dosco Roadheader and Ace Coal Cutter & Steam Winding Engine & talk to our team about them.
* Listen to horsekeeper talks about our horses and ponies & ask questions about how ponies were used at pits in the past.
* Also do try our special See How They Run underground tour (£4 per person charge) when you can see some of the underground machines working. Available to book on the day.
FREE entry, Drop in all day.
