Details

Martin Harris and Jayne Nicholson are based in the Blacksmith’s Forge on the museum’s Hope Pit site. Martin and Jayne showcase traditional crafts and produce a range of hand forged items which are sold in The Forge. They will also carry out important conservation work on the Museum’s collection.
Open to the public every Wednesday - Sunday 9am - 4pm.
Demonstrations at 11.30am & 2pm.
Head up to Hope Pit and follow the banner into the Workshop and Forge.
If you're looking for a unique gift, then why not purchase our 'Be a Blacksmith for the Day' course which costs £125 for the day and half day taster sessions cost £70. Participants must be 18 years and over and will learn the key basic techniques that are the foundation to blacksmiths work.
After a demonstration it will be your turn to have a go under supervision. you can expect to take home at least three hand forged items made by yourself.
