A stroll along the Nature Trail is a great way to enjoy the fresh air and our countryside setting. The Trail begins near the picnic area where you take the gravel path to the valley bottom and follow the stream until the path divides. If you carry straight on up the hill you'll arrive back at Caphouse, take the right fork to see the reed beds that are part of the water-treatment plant and then on to the Hope Pit displays.

Along the way you can enjoy the tranquility of nature among the birch, oak and ash woodland, find out about the plants, trees and wildlife that make their home here and see what you can spot from the bird hides.

Explore the Museum with Motty the Mole!
Outdoors, kids and grown-ups can go wild with a brand new nature guide, join Motty the mole and unearth the unexpected as he takes you on an adventure around the Nature Trail and the Museum site.

Pick up our handy re-usable, ring bound, activity cards from Reception and enjoy a day of interactive games and puzzles. – Suitable for all seasons and for just £2 per family!
