The Wharfside is located close to Wakefield Waterfront, just 10 minute walk from The Hepworth Wakefield.
The pub has a traditional exterior and patio seating area.
The interior was extensively refurbished in 2010 to provide a comfortable and modern atmosphere. Large French doors open out from the main bar onto a small grassed area at the front of the building and live music nights are held on a regular basis.
Black Sheep ale is on tap throughout the year as well as guest ales and food is freshly prepared to order.
Diners can also use the more formal dining area upstairs, which can also be booked for larger parties or as a function room.

From the North:
Exit the M1 at junction 41 and take the A650 towards Wakefield. Go through three roundabouts and continue onto the A61 signposted for Barnsley. Continue through two roundabouts and three sets of traffic lights. At the third set of traffic lights turn right towards A61/Bridge St and use the turning circle at the new waterfront development to turn right. Go past The Hepworth gallery on your left and take the first left onto Ings Road and turn immediately left again onto Thornes Lane. After a short distance you will come to a junction, go left onto Thornes Lane Wharf and the pub is a short distance on your right hand side.
From the South:
Exit the M1 at junction 39 and take the A636 Denby Dale road towards Wakefield. At the second roundabout turn right onto the A616 Asdale road, pass Asda on your left and continue to follow A61 for about 3 miles. Pass the new waterfront development on your left and The Hepworth Wakefield is on your left. Go past The Hepworth gallery and take the first left onto Ings Road and turn immediately left again onto Thornes Lane. After a short distance you will come to a junction, go left onto Thornes Lane Wharf and the pub is a short distance on your right hand side.
By Public Transport:
The Wharfside is conveniently located 1 mile from Wakefield Westgate station and 0.3 miles from Kirkgate Station.
From Westgate station, turn left out of the station and walk along Westgate, past Wakefield Theatre Royal on your left. Continue up Little Westgate onto Kirkgate , past Wakefield Cathedral on your left. At the end of the road turn right along Kirkgate for about half a mile, passing under the railway bridge. Continue over the road bridge. Turn right onto Ings Road and left onto Thornes Lane. After a short distance you will come to a junction, go left onto Thornes Lane Wharf and the pub is a short distance on your right hand side.
Exit Kirkgate Station following Monk Street to the left. At the traffic lights turn left onto Brunswick street and left again onto Kirkgate. Go under the railway bridge and continue over the road bridge, you will see the gallery on the right. Turn right onto Ings Road and left onto Thornes Lane. After a short distance you will come to a junction, go left onto Thornes Lane Wharf and the pub is a short distance on your right hand side.
