Gruesome wildlife has inspired horror stories for centuries…

Join the team this half term on a frightful tour of Fairburn Ings as the darkness starts to creep in.

Grab your torches, wrap up warm and prepare to hear some horrible history, discover some grisly creatures, and find out what goes bump in the night on a real nature reserve!


Fancy dress is encouraged!


Meeting at Fairburn Ings visitor centre at 5pm on Monday 23rd, Tuesday 24th or Wednesday 25th October.

The walks will last approximately 1 hour, and the centre will be open to provide you with a free hot chocolate and sell snacks/sandwiches either before or after your spooky adventure!

Aimed at children of all ages, most suitable for children 6+ with a responsible adult. Hot drink and parking included in the price.

The visitor centre, family trail and Lin Dike trail are accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs. Lin Dike hide was highly commended in recent Natural Environmental Biffa awards and the site was awarded Quality Assured Status in 2007.

By Road:
Leave the A1 at junction 42 for the A63, and follow signs for Fairburn village on the A1246. Once in the village turn right at Wagon and Horses public house. At the T-junction turn right, and the reserve is 1.5 miles on the left.

Car parking is free for RSPB members and £3 for non members
