Live original music in Wakefield on the first Thursday of every month. Please take your seats at 7.30pm for this wonderful, intimate show in the Chantry Chapel.

8.45pm Advance Base
Advance Base is the electronic solo project of Chicago, IL singer/songwriter Owen Ashworth (formerly of Casiotone for the Painfully Alone). Using a two-handed arsenal of electric piano, Omnichord, samplers, pedals & drum machines, Ashworth builds minimalist, heavy-hearted, & nostalgia-obsessed tunes around his conversational, baritone vocals. The sound of Advance Base has been described as "lo-fi," "depressed" & "weirdly uplifting."

Advance Base has supported live dates for The Postal Service, Pedro the Lion, The Mountain Goats, Dean Wareham (Galaxie 500/Luna), Alan Sparhawk (Low), Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters/Sun Kil Moon) & Stephin Merritt (The Magnetic Fields).

Animal Companionship, the third & most recent album by Advance Base, was released September 21, 2018 by Run For Cover Records / Orindal Records. GoldFlakePaint listed Animal Companionship among their favourite albums of 2018.

Advance Base is named after the Antarctic meteorological station & psychedelic death trap that nearly killed Admiral Richard E. Byrd during the winter of 1934.

8pm Daniel
This will be Daniel's first solo show, in his home town at that, and not one to be missed. Daniel is formerly of The Spills, in which he was songwriter and guitarist, and currently the guitarist in Mi Mye. Not yet fully formed, this new thing will probably involve old friends, though this is currently uncertain. The songs are mainly quite quiet, occasionally loud, and predominantly concern the strangeness of being a person doing, feeling and thinking things. Comparisons include Will Oldham, Mount Eerie, Yo La Tengo.

About the venue
The Chantry Chapel is a beautiful small church on a bridge. There are only three chantry chapels in the whole world! It is located close to Wakefield Kirkgate rail station and a 20 min walk/5 min taxi ride from Wakefield Westgate rail station. The show will be seated.
