As you’re exploring the historic grounds at Pontefract Castle, don’t forget to call into the visitor centre!

This beautiful 19th century barn, once home to a blacksmith’s workshop, is now a state-of-the-art visitor centre and a central hub for the castle. Explore the castle's fascinating, turbulent history through our engaging History of Pontefract Castle displays.

The friendly team of volunteers are on hand with a wealth of local knowledge to help visitors make the most of their time at the castle - and the surrounding area, too.

The Visitor Centre is open Tuesday - Sunday from 10am to 3pm.
