Organised by the Friends of Sandal Castle this annual walk sets off from Wakefield Cathedral and progresses to Sandal Castle.

11:45 - Re-enactment groups muster at Wakefield Cathedral
11:55 - Depart Wakefield Cathedral
12:15 - Arrive at Chantry Chapel and lay a posy of white roses at the Memorial Plaque of Edmond Earl of Rutland
12:45 - Depart Chantry Chapel
13:15 - Arrive at the Richard III Memorial and lay a wreath of white roses
13:25 - Depart Richard III Memorial
13:45 - Arrive at Sandal Castle
14:00 - Lay a wreath of red and white roses, followed by the Bishop of Wakefield’s service

After marching around the Castle, a short service will take place outside the cafe.

There will be medieval tents to provide shelter and re-enactors from The Towton Battlefield Society Frei Compagnie and Harrington Household will provide living history throughout the day.

Following the service re-enactors will be available to speak to, ask questions and show their armour, clothing and weapons.

Helen Cox, local historian and author of The Battle of Wakefield Revisited will also provide a guided walk of the Battle of Wakefield. (Timings for this to be confirmed)
