Events at this Venue

Join Wakefield Civic Society President Kevin Trickett MBE for a leisurely stroll around the St John's area of Wakefield, exploring the area's architecture and history.

This is a leisurely walking tour centred on the splendid Georgian St John's Square.

Meet at the bus stop in Wentworth Street by the gates to St John's Church for a 2 pm start. The walk will last approximately one hour and will look at some of the personalities associated with the Square as commemorated by Wakefield Civic Society blue plaques. Afterwards, there will be time to visit St John's Church which is also open for Heritage Open Days (see separate entry).

Please note. This is a Georgian square with some uneven paving and deep kerbs. Although the tour will be led at a leisurely pace, people with restricted mobility may find some of the surfaces difficult. A visit to St John's Church can be undertaken separately but is not part of the tour.

Max 30 people per tour/session. The walk will last approximately 1 hour.
